Lady Raider Volleyball team improves to 19-7-1

 With the winning scores of 25-15, 25-12, 24-26, and 25-15, the Raiders truly showed their talent against the Clay County Panthers on October 10th.  As their wins continue to accumulate, so do their hopes of attending the State Tournament.

Annie Hodge had 6 aces against the Clay County Panthers and now leads the Lady Raiders in serving with 51 aces on the season.  As a co-captain this year, Hodge has made some spectacular stats.  Although the responsibilities of a captain and setter are sometimes stressful, she seems to handle the pressure rather well with a whopping 780 sets and 91 kills.  

Ashli Knotts, the other captain of the team, had 21 kills to help shut down Clay.  Knotts has put down 244 kills this season along with 90 blocks, making the top spot on the leader board for both.  Like Hodge, she also fills the setter's position and has 696 sets on the year.

Morgan Cottrell may not be a captain, but she's not shy when it comes to keeping the energy level high.  Against Clay, she had 9 kills and 4 blocks.  With her leaping ability, Cottrell has been able to rack up a total of 130 kills and 60 blocks throughout this season. 

Cheyenne Hall and Clarissa Pinson are two more members of the Lady Raider Volleyball team.  Hall and Knotts each had 5 blocks in the games against Clay County, while Pinson added 3 to the equation.  These blocks put Pinsons total on the season up to 32 as Hall's increased to 70. 

Although these were the players to make the highlights from the match, it was an all-around team effort to tame the panthers.  The Lady Raider Volleyball team will be playing again on October 16th at Braxton County before they try for the LKC title on October 20th.
