Sophomores Do Best Ever on Writing Assessment

This year’s Sophomore Class at Roane County High School has achieved the highest ever on the West Virginia State Writing Assessment which was administered in February.  According to the report, 85% of the sophomores scored at or above mastery.  The assessment gave students a prompt and asked them to write an organized essay which demonstrated conventions of correct grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.  Essays were composed by students in a computer lab and submitted electronically for standardized scoring.
