Sara Jones was selected as the 2007-2008 Roane County Marching Band field commander.

On May 29, 2006 at Roane County High School the Roane
County Raider Marching Band held try-outs for the 2007-2008 Field
Commander. Sara Jones won with a score of 90 out of a possible 100
points. The other band students auditioning were Joey Bush, and Chad Stricklen. The qualification to try-out
for field commander is that the student has
to be in marching band for at least one year. The judge Bridget Bowen
looked at conducting styles, consistency with your pattern, marching,
and commanding. Band day camp will start on July 30 and will end on August 3. Regular band camp at Camp Shepard will start on August 5 and will end on August 10. On the last day of band camp the marching band will be presenting their first performance of the year. The first football game where the Roane County Marching Band will be performing is on August 24, 2007.
